Water is one of the most important needs of life. Currently water is threatened. When the industry produces hazardous waste in the waste directly on the water resources of human life and the environment is threatened.

Earth consists of 70% water. All areas of human life in desperate need of water for agriculture, plantation, Industry, Livestock and anything on earth. Water sources are maintained is the key to our lives. The number of overflow water in Indonesia is very large but not necessarily guarantee the availability of clean water.

Industrial waste and household waste is not managed properly create water sources can not be used optimally.

Water Pollution Originating from Industrial Waste

Industrial waste is currently outside the control of that release harmful chemicals and greatly affect the precious water resources – causing long term damage to human health and the environment.

Industrial waste with hazardous chemical has been far from the control’s security. Industries often dispose of hazardous chemicals from the rest of the manufacturing production process, with no responsibility for their products who use chemicals are disposed of as hazardous waste without any management.

Many chemicals used at the time the goods produced have intrinsic hazardous properties. They used intentionally or unintentionally, but most of those chemicals are not derived from natural ingredients. Hazardous chemicals can not be managed with simple techniques or simply by ‘end-of-pipe’, including public wastewater treatment plants. And industrial waste is very harmful in a very long and far from the source where they throw it away. They can travel great distances and they can accumulate along the food chain, eventually will poison our food supply itself.

We need a forest with a large area to ‘reduce’ and the fight against climate change and preserving the Earth. But that happens we do the opposite. We destroying our Forests.
The destruction accounts for 20% of GHG emissions each year. And even more emissions produced from all over the world such as from cars, trucks, trains, ships and aircraft in 2004.

In Indonesia, peat swamp forests disappeared due to logging, drainage and the fuel for the expansion of palm oil. This gambu land (sometimes hinggakedalaman 12 meters) store carbon is very large. When they are in keringakn and the fuel will be a carbon bomb, releasing nearly two tonnes of carbon dioxide milliyar dangerous every year.

Halo semua.

Sorry, if I have violated google webmaster guidelines. I don’t mean it.
Actually I want to obey your guidelines, but I don’t know until this happened.
I hope you can give me the best reconsideration, because I really want to follow your guidelines

Semoga berhasil

A message from the center of the Mayan civilization that has now collapsed

At their peak, The Maya is one of the world community with dense population and has a dynamic culture. Recorded in history, the Maya culture is the only one known to have a written language of culture, art, architecture science, mathematics, and advanced astronomical system at that time. Mayans also an accomplished scientist.

The collapse of one of the world’s greatest civilizations has been a long debate for a long time, but more and more accurate evidence and records obtained from ice cores, tree rings, and some deep sea sediments, provide evidence for the occurrence of a long drought for many years in the region, and each led to the collapse of most of the population, until they are left unable to save themselves from the recent severe drought. With all the sophistication of the knowledge they have, the Mayans were unfortunately not able to see the destruction to come. However, we can see our destruction.

Policy Measures

The government should know that the commitment to emission cuts they have promised not enough, make the right decision in the agreement is structured, and decide how they will provide new money to help developing countries to act and adapt. They have agreed to open the cash to provide the money to stop the practice of deforestation in developing countries. They should close the gap in the forest and land use regulations that could increase emissions of industrial countries.

If they can do this in Cancun, we may begin to believe that the government has woke from sleep, to face the actual reality facing the planet Earth today. Mayans may not obtain or have the equipment needed to avoid the collapse of their civilization, but we who live in the 21st century have the luck, that we are capable and can see into the future and we can choose a different path.

This also means that the government will say no to coal, petroleum and support [R] evolution Energy.

Take an Action : spread the word and tell everyone that a future free of fossil fuels is necessary – and it’s possible.

Around the world, natural forests are in crisis. Plants and animals that live in them are threatened with extinction. And a lot of people and cultures who depend of forests is also being threatened. But not everything is bad news. There is hope to save these forests and save those who live off the forest. Ancient forests are very diverse world. These forests include the forest-boreal pine forest type in North America, tropical rainforest, subtropical forests and forest magrove. Together, they maintain environmental systems that are important to life on earth. They influence weather by controlling rainfall and evaporation of water from the soil. They help stabilize the world’s climate by storing large amounts of carbon which if not saved will contribute to climate change.

These ancient forests are home to millions of people to survive the jungle that are dependent on forest-both physically and spiritually.

These forests are also home to two-thirds of the species of plants and animals in the world. Which means hundreds of thousands of plants and trees of different species and millions of insects-their future also depends on ancient forests.

Ancient forests are under threat amazing. In Brazil alone, more than 87 human cultures have been lost; at 10 to 20 years in the future world seem to be losing thousands of species of plants and animals. But there is one last chance to save these forests and the people and species that depend on it.

We need an energy system that can combat climate change, based on renewable energy and energy efficiency. Nuclear energy can only produce less energy than renewable energy and its distribution will decrease in the future.

Contrary to what the nuclear industry to us, they built many nuclear power plants in order to reduce greenhouse emissions and will require trillions of dollars, create thousands of tons of high level radioactive waste, contribute to the spread of nuclear weapons material to the outcome such as Chernobyl, the scale accident once every decade. Perhaps most significantly, it will spend the energy required for the solution to climate change is beneficial.

The nuclear age began in July 1945 when the United States tested their first nuclear bomb near, Alamogordo, New Mexico. A few years later in 1953, President Eisenhower launched the “atoms for peace” in the midst of a wave of optimism for the UN to atoms.

But as we know there is nothing “peaceful” about nuclear power. More than half a century after Eisenhower’s speech the planet is inherited nuclear waste. This heritage makes us recognize the truth of it.

Some things went slowly towards the right. In November 2000 the world recognize as nuclear power is dirty, dangerous and unnecessary technology, and does not provide greenhouse gas credits during the negotiations on climate change in Den hauque.

Nuclear powers to get a blow when the UN sustainable development conference refused to label sustainable technology in April 2001.

The risk of nuclear technology is real, inherent and do not last long!

Safety:

Basically there are no nuclear reactors are completely safe. All operational reactors have the disadvantage on the basis of security that can not be eliminated simply by increasing the level of security. The remaining highly radioactive fuel requires constant cooling. If this fails there will be a catastrophic release of radiation. The reactor is also extremely vulnerable to acts of sabotage, including terrorist attacks.

Waste:

At the time of mining, nuclear waste uranium has resulted in incredible scale. There is no way of storing nuclear waste is safe and risk free. No country in the world that have a high-level radioactive waste solutions which survive radiation up to hundreds of thousands of years. Currently the way it does is store the waste in above ground dry storage place at the site of origin, but even this option saves a lot of threats and challenges.

Duplication of Weapons:

Possession of nuclear weapons by the United States, Russia, France, Britain and China push perbayakan nuclear technology and materials. Every country that has the capability of nuclear power have a way to obtain nuclear material usable in nuclear weapons. This means that out of 44 countries that have nuclear power can be 44 countries that have nuclear weapons. Many countries with commercial nuclear power program is active, began their research with two objectives – electricity generation as well as open up opportunities for the development of nuclear weapons. Nuclear program based on plutonium re-processing of the remaining fuel has significantly increased the risk of propagation because of more plutonium, means more nuclear waste which akanmenjadi material available for making nuclear bombs.

Global climate change is a disaster that will come! We already know why – the people who continue to use fuels derived from fossil fuel such as coal, oil and gas.

We already know some of the consequences of global warming – the polar ice caps mencairnya, rising ocean temperatures, a prolonged drought, the spread of epidemic diseases, massive floods, coral bleaching and large storm waves. We also know who will be affected the most significant – of the coast, the island country, and of the less developed regions such as Southeast Asia.

Over the years we have continuously release karbondioksida into the atmosphere by using materials derived from fossil fuels like coal, natural gas and petroleum. This has resulted in the increasing natural blanket the world, which eventually lead to increasing world climate temperatures, and climate change are not predictable as well off. Greenpeace believes that only with the measures reducing greenhouse gas emissions that can prevent systematic and radical climate change could cause more severe damage to the ecosystem of the world and the people who live in it.

As an international scale global organization, Greenpeace is calling attention to the influence of both parties, namely the community and the danger behind the decision on the mining and use of fuels derived from fossils. As a regional organization, Greenpeace Southeast Asia concentrate on direct witness as a result of global climate change, and increasing public awareness about the ongoing problems. Greenpeace SEA also strives to empower change in use of energy policy in Southeast Asia in the future – the shift from dependence on fossil fuel resources towards renewable energy, clean and sustainable.

Climate and Energy Campaign Tactics is owned mengkonfrontasi challenges fueled industry that comes from fossil – particularly, generating electricity, coal combustion and nuclear-based energy producer – while, at the same time voicing and promoting solutions for the dependence of fuel consumption from fossils. For example, GreenpeaceSEA promote policies and projects that can produce cheap energy derived from wind and solar energy, and advocacy of alternative energy efficiency.

The world is growing exponentially in the use of technology products and their continual replacement is generating mountains of hazardous waste. The UN estimates are of 20-50 million tons of electronic waste produced each year.

These wastes, known as WEEE (Waste from Electrical and Electronic Equipment), are the type of hazardous waste in the fastest growing globally. In Europe, for example, increases from three to five per cent per year. Their danger is due to the presence of toxic and persistent, which represent a risk to the environment and human health in various stages of treatment, recycling and disposal.

Even today, you lose track of 75% of technological waste products in the European Union. This is a “hidden flow” which in part remains in our homes, basements and garages, or is disposed of in landfill or incinerated. Much of this waste, however, is exported – often illegally – to end up in landfills or recyclers in Africa, uncontrolled illegal in Asia. In places these workers, often children, are exposed to risks associated with the cocktail of chemicals that contain the waste and give off when treated in a rudimentary way, and without protection.

Did you know?

The televisions, which are the products of the industry’s most commonly disposed of in China, India and Africa, will be subject to further due to rising exports and the current change in the market towards the use of digital TV.

The world market for video game console is the fastest growing sector in the electronics industry, as well came to 62.7 million units sold in 2006 (representing an increase of 14.9% in a year).

In 2004, 183 million computers and 674 million mobile phones were sold worldwide, respectively 11.6% and 30% more than in 2003.

In 2010 it is estimated that 716 million new computers will be placed on the global market, 178 million of them in China, 80 million in India.

In industrialized countries, the average lifespan of a computer has fallen from 6 years in 1997 to 2 in 2005, while mobile phones have a life span of less than 2 years.

Does the weather where you live change often, or is it fairly constant from day to day? Weather is the condition of Earth’s atmosphere at a particular time and place. But what is the atmosphere? Earth’s atmosphere is the envelope of gases that surrounds the planet. To understand the relative size of the atmosphere, imagine that Earth is the size of an apple. If you breathe on the apple, a thin film of water droplets will form on its surface. Earth’s atmosphere is like that water on the apple, a thin layer of gases Earth’s surface.

Composition of the Atmosphere

The atmosphere is made up of a mixture of atoms and molecules of different kinds. An atom is the smallest unit of a chemical element that can exist by itself. Molecules are made up of two or more atoms. Earth’s atmosphere is made up of nitrogen, oxygen, carbon dioxide, water vapor, and many other gases, as well as particles of liquids and solids.

Nitrogen

Nitrogen is the most abundant gas in the atmosphere. It makes up a little more than three fourths of the air we breathe. Each nitrogen molecule consists of two nitrogen atoms.

Oxygen

Even though oxygen is the second most abundant gas in the atmosphere, it makes up less than on fourth of the volume. Plants and animals take oxygen directly from the air and use it to release energy from their food. Oxygen is also involved in many other important processes. Any fuel you can think of, from the gasoline in a car to the candles on a birthday cake, uses oxygen as it burns. Without oxygen, a fire will go out. Burning uses oxygen rapidly. During other processes, oxygen is used slowly. For example, steel in cars and other objects reacts slowly with oxygen to form iron oxide, or rust.

Most Oxygen molecules have two oxygen atoms. Ozone is a form of oxygen that has three oxygen atoms in each molecule instead of the usual two. Have you ever noticed a pungent smell in the air after a thunderstorm? This is the odor of ozone, which forms when lightning interact with oxygen in the air.

Carbon Dioxide

Each molecule of carbon dioxide has one atom of carbon and two atoms of oxygen. Carbon dioxide is essential to life. Plants must have carbon dioxide to produce food. When the cells of plants and animals break down food to produce energy, they give off carbon dioxide as a waste product. When fuels such as coal and gasoline are burned, they release carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.

Other gases

Oxygen and nitrogen together make up 99 percent of dry air. Argon and carbon dioxide make up most of the other one percent. The remaining gases are called trace gases because only small amounts of them are present.

Water Vapor

In reality, air is not dry because it contains water vapor. Water vapor is water in the form of a gas. Water vapor is invisible. It is not the same thing as steam, which is made up of tiny droplets of liquid water. Each water molecule contains two atoms of hydrogen and one atom of oxygen. The amount of water vapor in the air varies greatly from place to place and from time to time. Water vapor plays an important role in Earth’s weather. Clouds form when water vapor condenses out of the air form tiny droplets of liquid water or crystals of ice. If these droplets or crystals become heavy enough, they can fall as rain or snow.

Particles

Pure air contains only gases. But pure air exists only in laboratories. In the real world, air also contains tiny solid and liquid particles of dust, smoke, salt, and other chemicals. You can see some of these particles in the air around you, but most of them are too small to see.

Importance of the Atmosphere

Earth’s atmosphere makes conditions on Earth suitable for living things. The atmosphere contains oxygen and other gases that you and other living things need to survive. In turn, living things affect the atmosphere. The atmosphere is constantly changing, with gases moving in and out of living things, the land, and the water. Living things need warmth and liquid water. By trapping energy from the sun, the atmosphere keeps most of Earth’s surface warm enough for water to exist as a liquid. In addition, Earth’s atmosphere protects living thing s from dangerous radiation from the sun. The atmosphere also prevents earth’s surface from being hit by most meteoroids, or rocks from outer space.

Imagine taking a trip upward into the atmosphere in a hot-air balloon. You begin on a warm beach near the ocean, at an altitude of 0 kilometer above sea level. You near a roar as the balloon’s pilot turn up the burner to heat the air in the balloon. The balloon begins to rise, and Earth’s surface gets farther and farther away. As the balloon rises to an altitude of 3 kilometers, you realize that the air is getting colder. As you continue to rise, the air gets colder still. At 6 kilometers you begin to have trouble breathing. The air is becoming less dense. It’s time to go back down.

What if you could have continued your balloon ride up through the atmosphere? As you rose higher, the air pressure and temperature would change dramatically. Scientist divide Earth’s atmosphere into four main layers classified according to changes in temperature. These layers are the troposphere, the stratosphere, the mesosphere, and the thermosphere.

The Troposphere

You live in the inner, or lowest, layer of Earth’s atmosphere, the troposphere (TROH puh sfeer). Tropo- means “turning” or “changing.” Conditions in the troposphere are more variable than in the other layers. The troposphere is the layer of the atmosphere in which Earth’s weather occurs.

The depth of the troposphere varies from 16 kilometers above the equator to less than 9 kilometers above the North and South poles. Although it is the shallowest layer, the troposphere contains almost all of the mass of the atmosphere.

The Stratosphere

The stratosphere extends from the top of the troposphere to about 50 kilometers above earth’s surface. Strato- means “layer” or “spread out.” The stratosphere is the second layer of the atmosphere and contains the ozone layer.

The lower stratosphere is cold, about -60oC. Surprisingly, the upper stratosphere is warmer than the lower stratosphere. Why is it? The middle portion of the stratosphere contains a layer of air where there is much more ozone than in the rest of the atmosphere. (Recall that ozone is the three-atom form of oxygen.) When the ozone absorbs energy from the sun, the energy is converted into heat, warming the air. The ozone layer is also important because it protects Earth’s living things from dangerous ultraviolet radiation from the sun.

The Mesosphere

Above the stratosphere, a drop in temperature marks the beginning of the next layer, the mesosphere. Meso- means “middle”, so the mesosphere is the middle layer of the atmosphere. The mesosphere begins 50 kilometers above Earth’s surface an ends at an altitude of 80 kilometers. In the outer mesosphere, temperatures approach -90oC.

The mesosphere is the layer of the atmosphere that protects Earth’s surface from being hit by most meteoroids. Meteoroids are chunks of stone and metal from space. What you see as a shooting star, or meteor, is the trail of hot, glowing gases the meteoroid leaves behind in the mesosphere.

The Thermosphere

Near top of the atmosphere, the air is very thin. At 80 kilometers above earth’s surface, the air is only about 0.001 percent as dense as the air at sea level. It’s as though you took a cubic meter of air at sea level and expanded it into 100,000 cubic meters at the top of the mesosphere. The outermost layer of Earth’s atmosphere is the thermosphere. The thermosphere extends from 80 kilometers above Earth’s surface outward into space. It has no definite outer limit, but blends gradually with outer space.

The thermo- in thermosphere means “heat.” Even though the air in the thermosphere is thin, it is very hot, up to 1,800oC. This is because sunlight strikes the thermosphere first. Nitrogen and oxygen molecules convert this energy into heat.

Despite the high temperature, you would not feel warm in the thermosphere. An ordinary thermosphere would show a temperature well below 0oC. Why is that? Temperature is the average amount of energy of motion of each molecule of a substance. The gas molecules in the thermosphere move very rapidly, so the temperature is very high. However, the molecules are spaced far apart in the thin air. There are not enough of them to collide with a thermosphere and warm it very much.

The thermosphere is divided into two layers. The lower layer, called ionosphere (eye AHN uh sfeer), begins about 80 kilometers above the surface and extends to about 400 kilometers. Energy from the sun causes gas molecules in the ionosphere to become electrically charged particles called ions. Radio waves bounced off ions in the ionosphere. In the Northern hemisphere, these displays are called the Northern Lights, or the aurora borealis. Auroras are caused by particles from the sun that enters the ionosphere near the poles. These particles strike atoms in the ionosphere, causing them to glow.

Exo- means ‘outer”, so the exosphere is the outer portion of the thermosphere. The exosphere extends from about 400 kilometers outward for thousands of kilometers.
